Welcome to the Doncaster Danum guide to the appointment of Adults in Scouting.
The process of appointing adults has undergone a major redesign. The system is aimed at being robust to ensure that appropriate people are appointed whilst making the actual process more welcoming for the newcomer.
To do this, it has taken best practice from around the country, and formalised these systems. A big onus is placed on to Line Managers (Group Scout Leaders) to begin the appointments process, follow-up on the applicant during the approval and appointment stages, and then finish the process by ensuring the adult receives an appropriate induction to the Group / Section.
The whole appointments system has undergone a facelift with, new booklets available to guide individuals through different stages, two new forms to choose between (depending on role), and live online tracking through the process available to the applicant and Line Manager.
The basic principles behind the process remain the same, with robust checking of the individual to ensure they are appropriate people and suitability placed for their skills.
Any queries regarding the appointments process should be directed to the Appointments Secretary. For a more in depth look at the process click here
