Whilst the Scout Association has always been at the forefront of vetting adults before they have access to our members in the training sections, times have moved on and we must be more vigilant. Click here to view a diagram of the appointments programme. One of the main things we have tried to do is make new adults feel welcome. To do this we are improving the checking processes to not only include the thorough checks made using the Scout Associations Database, but the Criminal Records Bureau investigations too. This has been done whilst improving the process time for an adult, thereby making it easier for groups to retain interested adults by granting limited access once vetted under the Provisional Appointments system. For this purpose the Appointments Sub-Committee has been vastly expanded and reformed and now operates to a regular schedule. Any queries can be directed to the Appointments Secretary. Under this new system an adult can be fully checked, warranted and on with their training within 5 months.   Click here to read more about the appointments process.
