How we collect and share data
Tracking your behaviour
On this web site and server
Our web site records in a log file each page you request. This log file is created using Microsoft Internet Information Server as a byproduct of the server's operations.
We use a session cookie to manage your interactions on the site in one session.
We use a cookie to track whether or not your browser last viewed our "splash"
page so that we don't highlight news to you more than once.
If you have provided your e-mail address and registered with us, we allow you to
ask us to use a cookie to automatically log you into our site, rather than
asking you for your e-mail address and password each time.
With Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a web analytics tool that helps website owners understand
how visitors engage with their website. As a Google Analytics customer we can
view a variety of reports about how visitors interact with their website so they
can improve it. Google Analytics collects information anonymously. It reports
website trends without identifying individual visitors. See the
Google Analytics website for
further information.
With AddThis
We use the AddThis service by Clearspring Technologies, Inc. to enable you to
share our website content with other people through email, social networking
websites, blogs and more. When you use one of the AddThis buttons, menus
and/or toolboxes that are enabled on this website (an “AddThis Button”),
Clearspring Technologies, Inc. collect certain non-personally identifiable
information automatically for use on the AddThis Platform. We may use this
information via the Platform for analytics purposes. Clearspring
Technologies, Inc. also use some of this information for online ad targeting.
See the AddThis website for further
information.
Data you provide us
On this web site
If you have registered to use our website or respond to one of our
questionnaires or surveys we will store any personal information you give us on
our web server. That data is stored in a bespoke encrypted format.
The password you provide is double encrypted using two techniques and we are not
able to decrypt it. Data in transmission will be over the HTTP protocol so
can be intercepted.
